AURELE NICOLET

was born in 1926 in Neuchatel/Switzerland and studied in Zurich and Paris. In 1950, Wilhelm Furtwangler asked him to join the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra as a solo-flutist; he was a member for nine years. Nicolet's further career as a soloist brought him to many countries in Europe, America, and to Japan. The spectrum of his repertoire is from early baroque to contemporary music. For Nicolet who is one of the finest flutists of our time, teaching has always been an important part of his musical activities, first in Berlin (West) and now in Freiburg/Breisgau.

WOLFGANG SCHULZ

Wolfgang Schulz was born in Linz as a child of an Austrian musical familiy.
After his studies in Linz and Salzburg, he completed his musical education at the "Hochschule fur Musik und darstellende Kunst" in Vienna (Highschool for Music and Performing Arts) with Prof. Hans Reznicek. Thereafter he deepened his skills under the guidance of Aurele Nicolet.
In I 970, he became solo flutist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
Already at an early age, he appeared as soloist and chamber musician in numerous countries. He became member of the Ensemble Wien-Berlin in 1983. This ensemble consists of first winds of the Vienna- and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras.
Numerous duo-recitals for many years with his partner Helmut Deutsch, many appearances with pianists such Stefan Vladar, Andras Schiff, ... Chamber music performances with Amadeus Quartet and Alban Berg Quartet.
Besides those activities, he appeared with Claudio Abbado, Leonard Bernstein, Karl Bohm, Christoph von Dohnanyi, Seiji Ozawa. Andre Previn and Horst Stein in almost every musically important place in the world.
His repertory comprises the music of the Baroque as well as modern music, but Wolfgang Schulz puts special emphasis on Austrian contemporary composers: Cerha, Eder, Urbanner, Erod and Willi have dedicated compositions to him.
He became Professor at the "Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst" in Vienna in 1979.
His vast repertory is available on records, partly awarded with important titles such as Wiener Flotenuhr, Edison-Price, Grand Prix du Disque or Diapason d'or.

THOMAS INDERMÜHLE

born in Bern in 1951, he is the scion of a Swiss family of Musicians. He studied with Heinz Holliger at the Staatliche Musik-hochschule in Freiburg in Breisgau, and with Maurice Bourgue in Paris. Afterwards, he spent several years as solo oboist in the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1974 he was awarded a prize at the International Competition in Prague, and in 1976 he won he International ARD Competition in Munich.
Since then, he has appeared as a soloist in almost all European countries, in he USA, Canada, Japan, Korea and Australia. Of great importance to him are his "Ensemble Couperin", his activity as a conductor, and his work with his students. He has been responsible for an oboe class at the Zurich Conservatory since 1984, and in 1989 he was appointed professor at the Staatliche Hochschule fur Musik in Karlsruhe.

KARL LEISTER

Born in Wilhelmshaven, Germany in 1937. First training with his father, who was a clarinetist of the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Berlin. Studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin from 1953-1957.
Solo clarinetist of the Komische Oper Berlin under Walter Felsenstein from 1957-1959. Solo clarinetist of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra from 1959-1993. Professor at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" Berlin since September 1993. Winner of numerous prizes in national and international music competitions. Soloist at home and abroad, master classes on an international level and numerous recordings.
Member of the Ensemble Wien-Berlin. Honorary member and guest professor at the Royal Academy of Music London.
